This has been a bad week for us all at Balga, with the news that Anna Phelps is to undergo a serious operation today. She will be in the Mount hospital for 4 or 5 days and will then have to undergo radiotherapy and chemotherapy for some time. Our thoughts are with her and her young family. Today and tomorrow we will be collecting contributions for some flowers.

The Smartrider forms have arrived and students can start applying.
Basically, health care card holders and pensioners need to fill in only the brown form. How many hours they study is irrelevant. Others have to fill in both the brown and green forms and they must be studying for a minimum of 12 hours. The green form has to be endorsed by us (in the office).

The Smartrider DVD is doing the rounds of afternoon classes. Morning teachers should have a look at it and decide whether to show it to their classes.

A warning about the mail system in the office. There are TWO mailbags, one for internal mail and one for Australia Post mail. Please make sure you use the correct bag and address Australia Post mail fully. If in doubt ask the office staff.

Mary Aitken leaves tomorrow for a trip to South Island NZ. We’re all envious and wish her and Paul well. With Anna and Mary away and 20 teachers in the centre we will need to take particular care with checking books in and out and also with the CSWE files. Fortunately Samantha will be coming in on Thursdays to help out but we will still be short-staffed.
